slippery creek

Great South Road is a very busy main arterial road. Constructing this bridge required extensive traffic management and detailed construction planning to mitigate impacts on the road carriageway and road users. The bridge itself is constructed of a central steel frame which connects directly into the road bridge. This required very detailed survey to ensure that steel fabrication matched exactly to the existing structure. Concrete and timber piles were installed at each end of the central steel frame section to support the superstructure. The bridge was completed with timber decking and steel handrails, and Oxcon CLL also constructed significant new footpaths, kerbing and landscaping leading into each side of the new bridge.
