WATERLOO BRIDGE

Oxcon CLL were commissioned by Fulton Hogan Land Development Ltd to construct a pedestrian bridge over the Waterloo Reserve, which is a key amenity feature for the Milldale Residential Development site. The bridge provides a pedestrian link between two sides of the Waterloo Creek which bisects the Milldale Residential Development.

The bridge is 54m long and has 9 spans, with a splayed viewing platform and custom-made seating overlooking the local wetland. The structure consists of a drilled and concreted timber poles up to 12m deep, supporting a structural steel main frame with internal timber joists. The decking is architectural grade Kwila with inset luminaires for evening lighting. Architectural precast panels form the abutments and approaches to the bridge.

Care had to be taken working across the streams and environmental controls had to be reinstated a few times after being swept away by flood waters.  Construction stared in January 2023 and was completed on time within 4 months despite suffering a few delays caused by the weather events in early 2023.
