The project presented several logistical and environmental challenges. All construction was carried out from floating plant within the Coastal Marine Area, working amidst marina operations and frequent ferry services. The scope included drilling, diver-assisted pile driving, structural reinstatement, and manual timber installation, which was completed by hand to maintain control within spatial constraints. Despite needing to align fixings within 2mm tolerances in dynamic tidal and wind conditions, all works were completed safely and to a high standard.
Works were undertaken over two consecutive weekends to minimise disruption to ferry services and the public. We worked closely with Auckland Transport, ferry operators, and marina stakeholders to align delivery with operational windows. Exclusion zones were managed daily, and rigorous planning ensured safe access around the works zone. The pontoon upgrade was completed ahead of programme with no safety or environmental incidents.
