This project involved the demolition and replacement of the upper headland pedestrian stairs linking Stephens Avenue in Parnell to the Point Resolution Footbridge over Tamaki Drive. The works were undertaken within a steep, constrained site.

The new three-flight steel stair structure was fabricated off-site and installed in sections, supported by precast concrete landings and anchored with deep piles. Additional works included a cast in-situ concrete retaining wall, hardwood handrails, and integrated lighting. Working within an urban coastal environment, the project required careful stakeholder coordination, with access restrictions and environmental protections carefully managed.
