The Waihoehoe Bridge is a 27m single-span, hollow-core concrete bridge providing essential access to a new subdivision in Drury. Designed to support two traffic lanes, a pedestrian pathway, and a cycle lane (total width: 22.5m), the bridge is founded on 18 x 900mm diameter steel-cased concrete piles drilled into basalt, with reinforced abutments and retaining walls ensuring long-term durability.

Oxcon’s value engineering expertise resulted in cost savings by optimising the piling methodology, shifting from permanently cased bored piles to Continuous Flight Auger piles, reducing material costs while maintaining structural integrity. The bridge was delivered two weeks ahead of schedule, under budget, and to the highest quality standards, with a Waewae Pakura pattern barrier finish that was refined using 3D printing technology for precision casting by Preco.
