Each bridge comprises new piled foundations, reinforced concrete substructures, and prefabricated steel superstructures installed within narrow working footprints beside live tracks and active station platforms. The works require intensive service coordination, night-time construction, and targeted block-of-line shutdowns to enable major lifts and high-risk activities. Oxcon is managing KiwiRail approvals, rail protection, permit pathways and temporary alterations to public access routes to ensure safe and continuous station operations throughout delivery.
The programme spans into mid-2026, with key structural activities sequenced around shutdown windows, live traffic interfaces, and tight operational constraints. Oxcon is coordinating multiple specialist subcontractors and suppliers across three high-risk sites simultaneously, supported by detailed 3D modelling to confirm geometric fit, crane envelopes, temporary works layouts and clearance requirements.
PedLX demonstrates Oxcon’s ability to plan and deliver complex steel pedestrian bridges within live urban transport corridors, balancing programme pressure, operational safety, and extensive stakeholder interface, while maintaining safe public access and high-quality delivery across multiple concurrent stations.
